In contrast, chronic telogen effluvium may require medical intervention to reduce hair shedding and restore hair density. <\/p>\n In all cases, the first step in treatment is to identify the underlying cause of hair loss and address the medical condition responsible for triggering it.<\/p>\n Improvement is usually observed as a gradual reduction in hair shedding. This is followed by a regrowth phase, during which short, fine hairs initially appear and progressively thicken until normal hair length and shaft diameter are restored. Patients should be informed that this is a slow process that may take several months, or even up to a year.
