Today, facelifts go much further than just lifting and cutting the skin. To achieve a more lasting and natural result, we use advanced techniques to reposition the tissues from their base, composed of the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) and the platysma, a muscle that extends from the jaw to the clavicle, supporting the neck and the lower third of the face.

Strategic planning

We start from a volumetric model that creates a three-dimensional image of the face. This is developed after a complete assessment of the facial structure, the quality of the skin and the degree of laxity. Before the intervention, a personalised surgical plan is then designed for the areas to be treated (middle third, lower third or the whole face).

We carefully study the traction vectors to avoid the unnatural “wind-swept” look that causes the hairline to shift or alters natural wrinkles, the expression of the mouth or the position of the ears, factors linked to the artificial results of old or poorly executed facelifts.

Minimally invasive techniques

We are experts in facelifts through minimally invasive surgical techniques that allow us to perform interventions on younger patients who only wish or need to improve certain areas of the face.

We also specialise in endoscopic procedures which are carried out through very small incisions, so that marks and scars are easily hidden in the hair or behind the ears.

Facelifts focus on rejuvenating facial features, but signs of ageing also appear in the neck area. Combining both procedures allows for a more comprehensive approach, enhancing the harmony of the profile. If a defined jaw contour and a fat-free area under the chin are sought, the neck lift becomes an essential complement to the facelift.

Double chin correction

The accumulation of fat under the chin, known as double chin, is a common concern. Through minimal incisions and selective liposuction or tissue tightening techniques, fat deposits are removed and the neckline is redefined. In addition, muscle laxity is addressed by internal sutures that firm the underlying structure, achieving a slimmer, more youthful profile.

Skin tightening for complete rejuvenation

After removing excess fat, the skin on the neck is tightened to achieve a natural transition to the facial area. This process unifies the appearance and avoids sharp contrasts between face and neck. With an appropriate post-operative period, the swelling progressively decreases, revealing a harmonious result that enhances the lower third of the face and respects the naturalness of the features.

Experts in lipofilling

The Grupo Pedro Jaén surgeons have extensive experience in lipofilling, a procedure that consists of implanting the patient’s own fat cells to restore lost volume and thus bring improved and lasting results to the facelift. This technique involves removing fat cells, usually from the abdomen or hips, by means of fine-needle liposuction, then processing and implanting them in the required location.

Other complementary interventions

In order to respect facial harmony, it is possible to assess the need for interventions in addition to the facelift, such as an upper lip lift (to shorten the distance between the mouth and the base of the nose associated with ageing), blepharoplasty (when there is excess skin on the upper eyelid or fat on the lower eyelids), reduction of the earlobe (if it is very enlarged due to age) or resurfacing (to treat photoageing) with laser, chemical peels or intense pulsed light.
