What sets us apart
Comprehensive and advanced approach
Our Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit applies a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of metabolic, hormonal and nutritional disorders. With advanced technology and exclusive protocols such as the Whole Body Programme, we offer comprehensive care within a single clinical framework. We also work closely with other units at the centre to optimise metabolic health, support prevention of age-related conditions and improve body composition, always based on a personalised plan designed to deliver effective and sustainable outcomes.
Exclusive holistic programme
Information about the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit
One of the distinguishing features of Grupo Pedro Jaén is its comprehensive, patient-centred approach, which has also been fully integrated into our Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit. This unit carries out diagnostic assessments based on the status of all hormonal axes and overall metabolic health, allowing for a global and precise approach that is essential for disease prevention and treatment, as well as for the management of clinical and aesthetic conditions derived from these imbalances.
Whole Body Programme is the name of an exclusive protocol developed within this unit to provide an integrated approach to patient care at Grupo Pedro Jaén. This programme facilitates access to a coordinated service pathway in which patients can find answers to their health concerns beyond skin conditions or aesthetic issues, all within the same care circuit. This integrated model translates into greater efficiency, continuity of care and clinical effectiveness.
Comprehensive assessment and differential diagnosis
During the initial visit, a complete medical history is obtained, together with a detailed analysis of biochemical and metabolic parameters and an exhaustive dietary assessment. This is complemented by questionnaires and specific tests designed to detect sleep disturbances, assess sleep quality, evaluate nutritional patterns and explore the patient’s emotional relationship with food.
In addition, muscle strength and muscle mass are monitored, and preperitoneal fat is measured using nutritional ultrasound.
This imaging technique is particularly valuable for the morphological and structural assessment of muscle and adipose tissue. It is an emerging tool with high clinical utility for establishing an accurate diagnosis, as increased abdominal fat is associated with a three- to fivefold higher risk of diabetes, myocardial infarction and stroke.
Multidisciplinary approach
Another hallmark of Grupo Pedro Jaén is its integrated, multidisciplinary model of care, a principle that is also central to the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit. This unit works transversally with other specialist areas of the group, particularly Body Aesthetic Medicine, Acne Unit, Gynaecology, Psoriasis Unit, Hair Disorders Unit (dermatologists specialising in hair disorders) and Sensitive Skin Unit, as many dermatological conditions have an underlying endocrine origin, trigger or contributing factor.
For this reason, diagnostic evaluation within the unit is based on a thorough assessment of hormonal axes and metabolic status, allowing a precise and global approach that is fundamental for disease prevention and treatment, as well as for the management of related clinical and aesthetic concerns.

Promotion of healthy ageing
This new Grupo Pedro Jaén unit is also strongly focused on the prevention of conditions associated with ageing, with the aim of achieving what is increasingly referred to as well ageing or better ageing.
Cardiovascular risk assessment
Within the unit, carotid artery ultrasound can be performed to assess the presence of atherosclerotic plaques and, therefore, peripheral arterial disease and increased cardiovascular risk. Early detection enables timely intervention and helps reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction or stroke.
Prevention of sarcopenia
The prevention of sarcopenia, defined as age-related loss of muscle mass, is a key priority within the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit. Sarcopenia is a physiological process that can lead to weakness, balance and mobility problems, and an increased risk of falls, injuries and fractures.
Although it is a natural consequence of ageing, there are effective strategies to slow its progression and mitigate its impact, thereby promoting healthier ageing and improved quality of life. These strategies include a tailored nutritional approach ensuring adequate protein intake, supplementation when required, and structured physical training programmes aimed not only at fat loss but also at preserving muscle and bone mass—particularly important during peri- and postmenopause.
Management and prevention of menopause-related conditions
In the same way, the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit works closely with the Gynaecology Unit to address the decline in oestrogen associated with perimenopause and menopause, and the related effects, such as changes in skin quality, weight gain, sarcopenia and genitourinary syndrome.
Endocrinologists contribute to a preventive and proactive approach to this stage of a woman’s life, primarily through nutritional guidance, as well as through the management of thyroid disorders, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and osteoporosis, which are particularly prevalent during this period.
Nutrition focused on both body aesthetics and health
The Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit at Grupo Pedro Jaén works from the premise that, although nutrition is closely linked to body aesthetics, its implications extend far beyond improvements in physical appearance.
For this reason, the unit offers individualised care focused on the adoption of sustainable, healthy nutritional habits that patients can maintain over the long term. Time-limited or restrictive diets are avoided, as these often lead to rebound effects when previous habits are resumed.
Specialists place particular emphasis on nutritional education, beginning with careful listening to the patient. This approach allows an in-depth understanding of eating habits, eating environments (home, workplace or restaurants), cooking practices, the patient’s relationship with food, expectations, preferences, aversions and previous experiences with dieting.
Based on the information gathered, a diagnosis is established, a treatment plan is designed, and a structured follow-up programme is implemented. This is accompanied by medical nutrition coaching, integrating principles of behavioural medicine and psychological support.
When appropriate, patients may also benefit from treatments offered by the Body Aesthetic Medicine Unit, Beauty and Wellbeing Unit or Aesthetic Surgery Unit at Grupo Pedro Jaén to enhance results and improve body contour in cases where lifestyle modification alone may not be sufficient, such as cellulite, localised fat deposits or skin laxity.
Nutritional coaching
Excess weight has become a significant public health concern, prompting the introduction of new parameters for its assessment, including the influence of psychological factors on our relationship with food and daily healthy habits.
Nutritional coaching offers a new perspective in the management of excess weight by integrating both the physical and emotional dimensions. It is based on the understanding that addressing weight-related issues requires consideration of factors that go beyond simply counting calories.
It is undeniable that food is often used as a coping mechanism—to alleviate anxiety, seek pleasure or reward, soothe emotional distress, or avoid facing uncomfortable emotions or situations. This dysfunctional relationship with food frequently results in overweight and obesity, but may also lead to frustration, anxiety and feelings of guilt when individuals feel unable to prevent or manage the problem in its early stages.
Nutritional coaching focuses on guiding patients towards awareness that, unless this harmful relationship with food changes, no diet or nutritional plan will achieve sustainable long-term results. The aim is to promote a deep behavioural change, restoring food to its true physiological function rather than using it as an emotional shield.
The nutritional coaching programme within the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit at Grupo Pedro Jaén is primarily centred on health self-care. Patients are taught to eat mindfully, preventing automatic behaviours that lead to impulsive eating. The programme also helps patients reconnect with sensations of hunger and satiety by listening to their body’s signals and learning to distinguish between physiological hunger and emotional hunger, responding appropriately to each.
Finally, patients are provided with tools to manage emotions without resorting to food and to develop constructive self-care habits, enabling them to achieve and maintain a healthy weight over time by normalising their relationship with food and preventing it from becoming an unhealthy coping mechanism.
