Intraoral scanner

The intraoral scanner is used to obtain detailed images of the entire oral cavity, assisting in the design of dental prostheses, veneers and mouthguards, both for orthodontic purposes and for bite protection. This electronic device captures high-resolution images that accurately represent oral structures.

Digital treatment planning

Using dedicated software, we generate precise 3D models of the oral cavity. This enables highly accurate treatment planning, optimises treatment time and reduces the number of clinical visits required.

In some cases, maxillofacial surgery may be complemented by minor surgical procedures to optimise results, such as buccal fat removal, lip lift procedures or facial prosthetic enhancements (chin or cheekbones). These minimally invasive interventions are performed within our Facial Aesthetics Unit.

Dental implants represent the most effective solution for replacing missing teeth and restoring both function and aesthetics. Tooth loss affects not only the smile but also essential functions such as chewing, swallowing, digestion and speech.

Personalised, high-precision treatment

Thanks to intraoral scanning technology, implant planning is fully personalised. Treatment begins with the placement of a biocompatible titanium implant in the jawbone, which serves as a stable support for a crown designed to match the size, colour and position of the surrounding teeth.

Pre-prosthetic surgery in cases of bone loss

When there is insufficient bone volume to place an implant, maxillofacial surgeons perform pre-prosthetic surgical procedures such as bone grafting. Grafts may be autologous (from the patient’s own bone) or of xenogeneic origin, enabling bone regeneration and ensuring proper implant integration.

A lack of bone volume in the jaw may compromise implant placement. However, a range of advanced surgical techniques can regenerate bone and make implant placement possible.

Bone grafts

One of the most commonly used solutions is bone grafting, using either autologous bone or materials of xenogeneic origin. These procedures restore the necessary bone volume to ensure adequate implant stability.

Maxillary sinus lift

This technique is particularly indicated when bone volume is limited in the posterior upper jaw. It involves elevating the sinus membrane and inserting graft material to increase bone height. Depending on the case, shorter or angled implants specifically designed for areas with reduced bone availability may also be used.
