Advanced laser treatments
Information about laser skin rejuvenation
The Laser Unit at Grupo Pedro Jaén uses advanced laser systems to soften wrinkles, improve skin quality by stimulating collagen and elastin production, renew the skin surface through controlled resurfacing, and address skin laxity and tissue sagging.
Access to a broad range of laser devices allows specialists to design comprehensive and personalised treatment protocols tailored to each patient’s needs, optimising outcomes according to the type and extent of skin changes being treated.
Fractional CO₂ laser rejuvenation treatments
Fractional CO₂ laser technology acts through two complementary mechanisms. The infrared laser beam is absorbed by the water content of the skin, generating columns of vapourisation and coagulation (in ablative systems) or coagulation alone (in non-ablative systems). This process produces controlled resurfacing that renews the skin surface while simultaneously stimulating the production of new dermal collagen, improving skin quality from within.
Fractional CO₂ laser is particularly suitable for comprehensive skin rejuvenation, as it targets multiple factors associated with photoageing and skin deterioration, including pigmentation, wrinkles, laxity and loss of radiance.
This treatment helps even skin tone, restore luminosity, soften wrinkles and fine lines, reduce pore size, remove imperfections and improve skin texture. It is also effective in improving acne scars and softening other scars and pigmentation irregularities. At a deeper level, fibroblast reorganisation and the production of new collagen and elastin progressively restore skin firmness and elasticity, resulting in a healthier and more youthful appearance.
After each session, the skin typically appears red and inflamed. This is a normal and expected reaction that usually resolves within hours. Depending on treatment intensity, small crusts may form and naturally shed over the following days. During this period, patients should apply a regenerating cream to soothe redness and support skin recovery. The Beauty and Wellbeing Unit offers specific post-laser treatments aimed at optimising recovery.
Fractional CO₂ laser treatment requires topical anaesthesia applied approximately one hour before the session to minimise discomfort. Strict photoprotection measures must be followed after treatment to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation or skin damage. Although this laser can be combined with other aesthetic treatments, treatment timing should always be discussed with the specialist to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Picosecond laser for skin rejuvenation
Picosecond laser technology can also be used for comprehensive facial rejuvenation due to its effect on collagen production. This results in progressive improvement in skin texture and quality following each session, supporting a healthier and more rested appearance by activating the skin’s natural regenerative mechanisms.
This technology addresses signs of photoageing related to cumulative sun damage, including pigmentation, wrinkles, dehydration, dullness and skin laxity. It is suitable for the face, neck and décolletage.
Unlike other laser systems, picosecond lasers achieve these effects with minimal discomfort. Patients typically experience brief, mild pinprick sensations during treatment. Recovery time is short, as the treatment does not blister or peel the skin surface, does not cause crusting and does not usually produce oedema. The most common post-treatment effect is mild facial redness, similar to that experienced after sauna use or intense physical exercise, which resolves within hours and allows patients to resume normal activities immediately.
Skin improvement is often noticeable after the first session and continues progressively as new collagen is produced. Depending on individual patient characteristics, treatments may be repeated every four to five months to maintain results.
