How it is performed and indications

A guide to understanding non-surgical rhinoplasty

To perform this procedure, a fully biocompatible dermal filler is injected—one that is naturally present in various tissues of the body, such as tendons, cartilage, muscles and skin. This approach allows nasal imperfections to be harmonised while minimising the risk of material rejection or allergic reactions.

Indications for non-surgical rhinoplasty

Nasal reshaping with dermal fillers is not an alternative to surgical rhinoplasty. It is indicated exclusively for the correction of mild nasal imperfections, such as dorsal humps, pronounced nasal bridges, aquiline nasal profiles, drooping nasal tips or minor asymmetries. Using this medical-aesthetic technique, it is possible to straighten the nasal profile and subtly lift the nasal tip, achieving a more harmonious shape.

However, patients with markedly aquiline or large noses, as well as those requiring correction of the nose by modifying the shape or position of bony or cartilaginous structures, will require surgical rhinoplasty.

“In most cases, the best results are achieved by combining different therapeutic options and acting at an early stage.”

After non-surgical rhinoplasty with dermal fillers

Nasal reshaping with dermal fillers is performed in the aesthetic medicine consultation room and typically takes around 20 minutes. Anaesthesia is not required, although a topical anaesthetic cream may be applied beforehand to minimise discomfort from the injections.

No specific recovery measures are required, and patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after leaving the consultation.

Although the filler used in non-surgical rhinoplasty has a relatively long duration—since the nose is an area with limited mobility—it is a resorbable material. For this reason, the treatment needs to be repeated after approximately 12 to 18 months to maintain results. Permanent results can only be achieved through surgery, a procedure that is currently performed using minimally invasive techniques in our Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit.
