A guide to understanding Lipolaser

Minimally invasive liposuction using Lipolaser, also known as laser-assisted lipolysis, involves the introduction of an extremely fine-calibre cannula through a very small skin incision. This cannula is equipped with a flexible fibre-optic light guide that emits low-frequency laser energy, which liquefies localised fat deposits. Once the fat is in a liquid state, it is removed either by gentle aspiration or naturally via the body’s lymphatic system. This body contouring treatment is indicated for the reduction of localised fat deposits that persist despite maintaining a healthy weight, following a balanced diet and engaging in regular physical exercise. Laser Lipo also improves cellulite, significantly reducing skin dimpling (orange peel skin) and improving skin laxity, resulting in comprehensive body contouring. Minimally invasive liposuction with Laser Lipo is generally indicated in patients who require correction of silhouette alterations due to fat accumulation in specific areas of the body combined with significant skin laxity.

Laser Lipo can be applied to any body area with fat deposits suitable for conventional liposuction, particularly the abdomen, buttocks and outer thighs (saddlebags). In addition, the immediate skin contraction produced by laser energy makes this treatment especially effective for addressing laxity in traditionally difficult areas such as the inner thighs, lower arms, abdomen and flanks. It is also a highly effective procedure for refining the results of previous conventional liposuction procedures.

Advantages of liposuction with Lipolaser

Laser-assisted lipolysis offers several advantages in the treatment of localised fat. First, the incision required to perform the procedure is only one to two millimetres, leaving a scar that is virtually imperceptible once healing is complete.

The small size of the device, combined with its highly focalised action on fat deposits while preserving surrounding structures, minimises surgical trauma. This results in a faster and safer procedure, with shorter recovery times, less post-operative discomfort and a lower risk of complications.

The thermal energy released by the laser at the tip of the cannula simultaneously seals small blood vessels while dissolving fat deposits, which significantly reduces the risk of bleeding and bruising. In addition, selective deep-tissue heating produces tissue tightening and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. As a result, Lipolaser not only eliminates localised fat and improves cellulite, but also produces a noticeable improvement in skin laxity in the medium and long term.

This technique reduces the risk of post-surgical skin laxity and promotes more uniform skin tightening, leading to smoother, more homogeneous and aesthetically pleasing results. In most cases, additional corrective procedures are not required to regularise the skin surface.

Finally, although Lipolaser is primarily designed for small-volume areas, it can also be used in larger-volume treatments in combination with conventional suction-assisted liposuction to enhance the final outcome.

Recovery after Laser Lipo treatment

Lipolaser is typically performed in less than three hours, using local anaesthesia and, in selected cases, conscious sedation. After the procedure, patients are discharged the same day and can usually return to their professional and social activities within one to two days. According to the specialist’s recommendations, a compression garment should be worn for approximately two weeks.

Results are visible immediately and continue to improve progressively over time. In most cases, a single session is sufficient; however, depending on individual needs—particularly in cases involving slightly larger volumes—a touch-up procedure may be performed. The results achieved with Lipolaser are permanent, as the eliminated fat tissue does not regenerate.
